Let me introduce myself…  I’m Leigh K. Hajovsky and my objective in sharing my unusual artistic history is to let you know that I’m unique.  My background is in studio and graphic/computer art and fashion and merchandising.  As you may already suspect, I’m fascinated by the juxtaposing of images and ideas.  At Texas State University I formulated my ideas in paint, graphite, and pastel while learning how to format through computer-related typography, corporate packaging, and editorial design and illustration.  My historic influences were Lempicka and her use of contrast and sexually-charged subjects, Kahlo, Rivera, Louise Bourgeois, and Roy Lichtenstein.  Throughout college, I held and evolved a position in an upscale boutique – work that included designing websites, attending fashion shows and apparel markets in Las Vegas and Dallas, research on trends, lay-outs, window displays, and management – plus much freelance work designing advertising, displays, and providing consultation services for numerous additional businesses.  My design aesthetic has been influenced by Custo and his Barcelona-based team – and their use of vintage graphics, wild colors and unusual fabric combinations.  Also, Betsey Johnson, Christian Lacroix, Jean-Paul Gautier, and John Galliano have inspired me and influenced my work.

Primarily 2-dimensional but often with 3-dimensional qualities, my work entails the use of many mediums:  Painting, collage techniques with natural and computer-generated images, drawing, and fabric.  Visit the online gallery to view the most recent works in my collection.  Let me know how we might work together to enhance your business or personal domain with my original, unique designs.  I work both independently and through commission.

I’m not the only unique member of the family.  My mother, Kathryn E. Klauber, is also a studio artist who works primarily in graphite and paint while juggling a career in art education and art history.  She studied at UCLA,UT Austin, and currently at the University of Houston.  Whereas I am highly creative, she is highly technical.  Be sure to check out our Houston Wunderkammer Collection – each a “room of wonders” - these unconventional portraits exude idiosyncratic charm through the combining of imagination, collage, and painterly technique.
